NAET Allergy Treatment

Allergies can make a person feel miserable, and allergy treatment isn’t much better in some cases. Many people treat their allergies either by taking medications to control allergic reactions as they occur or simply avoid the allergens altogether. Sadly, that isn’t always possible. In fact, many people are unaware that they have allergies. They may feel constantly tired, worn out, moody, light-headed, stuffy or otherwise miserable almost all the time. They may not have any life-threatening allergies, but they definitely have a sensitivity to something that they cannot avoid. If you are experiencing these symptoms, Dr. Keith Wagner and his staff may be able to help you with Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique.

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique or NAET was discovered and developed by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad in 1983 and involves teaching the body to correct the way it reacts to allergens. Allergic reactions occur because the body’s immune system identifies an allergen as a harmful substance. This causes the immune system to develop an excessive amount of immunoglobulin and release the histamines that cause the reaction. Certain substances such as exhaust fumes and petrochemicals are toxic and warrant this kind of reaction, but most common allergens are not. NAET aims to find the root cause of a person’s allergies and eliminate it as an underlying factor. NAET is a non-invasive and all-natural treatment that combines several different disciplines and is safe for all ages.

Identifying The Allergens

The first step in NAET is to find out what substance is triggering the patient’s allergies through a process similar to applied kinesiology. The patient holds a small vial of a substance that may cause an allergic reaction while holding their other arm perpendicular to their body. If the chiropractor can easily move the extended arm down, the patient most likely has a sensitivity to the substance that is causing a slight weakness.

During this first test, the chiropractor will also test the strength of other muscles by manually activating the patient’s acupressure points. This will help the chiropractor isolate nerve energy blockages that can be caused by sensitivity to the substance.

Acupuncture

Once an allergy or sensitivity has been discovered, the next step is to treat it through acupuncture. Acupuncture is based on theory that homeostasis in the body is maintained through numerous meridian points in the body. Many ailments can be caused by a disturbance in the body’s homeostasis, including allergic reactions. Any substance capable of causing the muscle weakness identified in the beginning of the treatment is capable of disturbing homeostasis. By manipulating these meridian points through acupuncture or acupressure, the chiropractor can help the body to maintain homeostasis even when it is being affected by an allergy or sensitivity to a substance.

Nutrition

Of course, living a healthy lifestyle extends beyond just the treatment you will receive in our office. In order to maintain proper homeostasis, you must maintain a healthy diet. An occasional nutrition assessment is a major element of NAET, and it will help you to lessen or even eliminate your sensitivity to an allergen.

Your Treatment

Your treatment will begin with a consultation to determine what allergies will be treated. After this first appointment, the next session will involve the muscle test to find the severity of your allergy. The actual acupuncture treatment can begin after that. A typical session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.

The number of sessions you will require will depend on the severity of your allergy or sensitivity. In some cases, only one session is necessary, but some patients may require as many as 20 sessions to lessen or eliminate their allergies. Allergies are treated one at a time, but it is possible to eliminate the majority of your allergies through enough sessions. It is also very important that you avoid contact with the allergen being cleared for 25 hours after a session as this can prevent the treatment from having the desired effect.
